As one of the 6th grade teachers at Heritage Middle School, I am eager to partner up with you and your kiddos to create a love of learning. When I teach your students, I will treat them like they are my own. This means that I’ll be tough on your kiddos. I will push them to think critically about the things they say, as well as the things they do. I strongly encourage innovation, creativity, as well as the ability to write with content and logic. I am not a perfect person, but instead, I strive to be the best version of myself. I will make mistakes, but I know that if you and I work together we will deliver a wonderful education for your child. This is my 6th year teaching, but my first year at HMS. Previously, I was a 5th grade teacher at Cannon Elementary and Dove Elementary School. I hold a bachelor’s degree in education from Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I have taught in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD since 2014 when I moved to Texas from Pennsylvania, where I began coordinating the development of curriculum for higher education in 2012. I consider myself a master innovator and creative designer of engaging work for my scholars. Integrating real world problems and hands on learning into my instruction is something I consider crucial for students to experience. I honor student-centered learning and use student interest to foster inquiry, questioning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.  In my classroom, there is evidence of student choice, differentiated learning, and opportunities for students to identify their strengths and set goals for their own growth. In addition to leading learning in the classroom, I have played many other roles in the GCISD school community. I have coached the robotics team, First Lego League, served on the District Math Vertical Alignment Team, Math RtI Progress Monitor Alignment Team, and the District Elementary Science Learning Team. My ultimate goal is to develop meaningful relationships with my students that will empower them to be lifelong learners.
