Hello, My Name Is...

Shauna Hunter

Shauna Hunter

I am so excited to be starting my 10th year in GCISD!

I graduated in 2012 from Western Governors University of Texas with a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and later earned a Master's of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas. I began my teaching journey at Dove Elementary and loved all 6 years there as I traveled from grades 1st, 3rd, and 5th. I absolutely love being a Bronco and teaching 6th and 8th grade AVID!

I am so blessed to say that I am a wife, and the proud mom of 4 amazing kiddos! Our oldest is 22- and in pursuit of her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. We also have 18 yr old boy/girl twins starting their college journey, one at OU and one at Texas State! Our youngest, Brody is 12 and is in 7th grade at CTMS. I LOVE every bit of this busy life and know all too soon these days will pass.

Watching students learn to question, feel empowered, and truly take ownership of their education is what keeps me going. I believe that children are unique individuals who need safe, loving, and inspiring atmospheres where they can grow and mature intellectually and physically as well as emotionally and socially.  As an educator, it is my goal to aid students in embracing their full potential in all areas by offering an environment where they feel safe and supported so that they want to share their ideas openly.  I will be a guide to my students and allow their imagination and personal interest to direct their learning. Students will have a desire to find answers to their questions when they have a teacher who leads them to find the information, instead of being the absolute source of information.

Class Motto:

Be bold enough to use your voice,

brave enough to listen to your heart,

and strong enough to live the life you've always imagined.
